Veterinarians

John Kelly, DVM, was born in Seattle, but lived out of state and out of the country until a teenager when the family returned to Washington State. He obtained his BA and DVM degrees from Washington State University and joined Elliott Bay Animal Hospital in 1975 as an associate then as a partner in 1983 and sole owner in 2004.

John Enjoys all aspects of companion animal medicine and welcomes the continual improvements in diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental services we are able to offer to care for our beloved four legged patients and their devoted owners.

He shares a home in Magnolia with his wife, JoAnn and their current rescue dog, Larry, who maked the daily commute to the hospital with John.

In his spare time he enjoys hiking, fishing, good books, good wine and travelling with his wife. When JoAnn has the time away from her marketing and design business, John supports and participates with her in several volunteer organizations.

Sherrie Crow, DVM, has worked as a veterinarian at EBAH since 1998, with her entire career being in private practice. Originally from Western Washington, she received her degree from Washington State University of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Sherrie enjoys working to keep pets health and happy, while the medical and surgical cases provide a new challenge each day. When not working, Sherrie likes hiking, cooking and plays in a local marimba band. Of course, her three cats prefer Sherrie to stay at home and snuggle with them.

Heather Weihl, DVM, graduated from Tufts University in 1988, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. Although she has worked with all kinds of animals from sloths to snow leopards, she most loves caring for your four legged family members from their pediatric through senior years. In her free time, she plays trombone and accordion and volunteers for some terrific non-profit organizations, and spends her time with her exceptionally talented and beautiful cats.

Deborah Tegarden, DVM, remembers telling people that she wanted to be a veterinarian from the time she was in the second grade. It was either that or an astronaut. She grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon (a suburb of Portland) where most of her family still resides. Having many alma maters, such as Portland State, Oregon State and Washington State means that one of her school's football teams should be doing well at any given time. Fresh out of vet school she worked in Everett for a year and Kirkland for a year before landing at Elliott Bay; the best clinic on earth. She has happily put down roots here and started a family. That includes a husband, Cary, two goofy loveable boxers and most recently a little boy named Olin Thomas (Ollie for short). What a surprise when he arrived with bright red hair! After a small stint away with the boy, she's back three days a week and happily living her childhood dream again.

Karen Myhre, DVM, grew up on a small farm in Indiana where her earliest patients represented a wide menagerie of different species. After veterinary school at Purdue University she limited her practice to dogs and cats, first practicing in San Jose, and then moving to Seattle. A little known fact is that she has been associated with Elliott Bay Animal Hospital since 1990. In the later 1990's she took some years to practice limitedly and spend time with her then young children (now in middle school). As she returns to three-quarter time practice, Karen looks forward to renewing old relationships as well as forming new ones with the clients (and pets!) of Elliott Bay Animal Hospital. In her time off, she enjoys the task of raising her two girls; they keep Karen and her husband busy with soccer and a myriad of other activities.

Aimee Kimmel (formerly Smith), DVM, grew up in the Seattle area and has a great love for the Pacific Northwest. She studied biology and chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Washington and then lived in New York City, working as a Marketing and PR coordinator before returning to the Washington to attend Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kimmel has volunteered with the ASPCA in New York City, the Doney Veterinary Clinic for disadvantaged owners in Seattle, and the King County Humane Society in Bellevue. She has loved animals all her life and gets special enjoyment out of adventuring with her husband James and her squirrel-obsessed Beagle Flash Gordon and English/French Bulldog cross Jelly Bean. Aimee now lives in Seward Park and seeks new adventures through cooking, skiing, sailboat racing, and travel to far-flung places.

Bridie O'Connor, DVM, is originally from Whittier, California. She attended Whittier College for her undergraduate schooling where she majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. After some time spent training horses and traveling, she attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. After receiving her veterinary degree, she completed a one year small animal internship at the University of Pennsylvania where she spent time working with complex cases in a variety of specialties. These specialty departments included Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, ICU, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Radiology, Neurology and Oncology. As she has always had a special interest in ophthalmology, Dr. O'Connor pursued research during her internship investigating refractive error in dogs with retinal diseases. While Dr. O'Connor loves being a veterinarian and thinks she has one of the best jobs in the world, she has many other interests when she is not practicing. She loves hiking, running, ballet, riding horses, travel and her Irish heritage (hence the Irish nickname "Bridie"). Dr. O'Connor is also recently engaged to a veterinary Internal Medicine specialist and has a wonderful family of two dogs (Ginger and Nikos) and one cat (Iggy).
